Behind the Booking.
Behind the Booking: A Once-in-a-Lifetime European Journey
Four weeks. Five destinations. Countless details. One thoughtfully planned journey.
Some trips are about checking a destination off your list. Others are about creating the kind of experience you’ll talk about for years.
This was one of those trips.
For this client, I planned a four-week European journey designed to balance incredible hotels, unique experiences, family time, relaxation, and plenty of room to actually enjoy each destination.
The Journey
The itinerary included:
Zurich, Switzerland
The trip began at The Dolder Grand, where the goal was to ease into the journey with a beautiful hotel and time to settle in before moving on. I coordinated transfers to and from the hotel, as well as massages for once they were settled that day. Then I planned excursions that fit their needs with light walking, scenic adventures and plenty of down time like they asked. The Dolder Grand was the perfect hotel to bring them the luxurious Swiss feeling while being relaxed and away from the “city” vibe.
Lake Como, Italy
From Switzerland, the trip continued to Menaggio, Lake Como. This portion was designed around the scenery, relaxation and the unmistakable feeling of being somewhere special. I planned them special day trips to visit family they have never met before as well as excursions to see Italian villas in the area.
Turin, Italy
From Lake Como, my clients also wanted to see other family, around the Turin area, so I incorporated private day trips and experiences that allowed them to spend time together without taking away from the vacation itself.
Venice, Italy
Next came Venice, with a stay at Hotel Metropole and time to experience the city at a slower pace. Coordinated transfers, private excursions and food tours were the perfect way to spend their day. And once back to their room, they had a jacuzzi to relax in.
Florence, Italy
From Venice, the itinerary continued to Florence and the Grand Hotel Minerva, giving the clients another completely different side of Italy. A place to relax at the rooftop pool, private day trips to the Chianti Wine region to have a day tasting Italian wines and eating a lovely dinner; then a special private day trip to see Pisa with a personal driver to chauffeur them around.
Rome, Italy
The final stop was Rome, where the trip wrapped up at Hotel Barrocco before the clients headed home. In Rome I planned them private evening tours of the Colosseum, night tours of the Vatican and private golf cart tours to see all Rome had to offer, personalized just to their wants.
It’s More Than Booking Hotels
One of my favorite parts of planning a trip like this is that the hotels are only one piece of the puzzle.
For this itinerary, I coordinated private transportation, tours, dinner reservations, massages on longer travel days, and built in intentional downtime between major experiences.
That last part is something I think is often overlooked.
When you’re traveling for several weeks and visiting multiple destinations, you don’t want every single day packed from morning to night. Sometimes the best part of a trip is having an afternoon to enjoy the hotel, wander around a new city, or simply do nothing.
The Details Matter
With a multi-destination trip, small logistical decisions can make a huge difference.
Where should the clients stay?
How should they get from one destination to the next?
Which experiences are actually worth their time?
Where should we build in downtime?
How can we make travel days feel easier?
What reservations need to be secured in advance?
Those are the details I think through when planning a trip for my clients.
My job isn’t simply to find a beautiful hotel. It’s to look at the entire journey and make sure all of the pieces work together.
The Goal: A Trip That Feels Effortless
This is exactly why I love planning complex travel.
My clients shouldn’t have to spend their vacation thinking about confirmation numbers, transportation schedules, hotel changes, tour reservations or what needs to happen next.
They should be able to wake up, enjoy their morning, explore somewhere incredible, have dinner somewhere memorable and know that the details have already been handled.
That’s the experience I’m trying to create with every Aries Odyssey itinerary.
You bring the destination dreams. I’ll handle the details.
